Dear Friend and Supporter,
As we gather together with our loved ones this Holiday Season, let us
set aside some time to reflect on not only the things we are grateful
for but also the bonds of fellowship that bring us together in our
devotion to our Greek heritage and culture.
We, at the American Hellenic Council, are grateful for your friendship
and support this year. Together in 2017, we stood shoulder to shoulder
with other communities to bring about victories for social justice in
the United States, and raise awareness of the Hellenic Cause.
As we look forward to 2018, we ask you to consider an end-of-year
Christmas donation. Your renewed generosity will empower the Council
over the next 12 months to continue advancing the Hellenic Cause.
For some, this may be the perfect time to make a charitable donation,
or to pre-order their 2018 Gala sponsorships. As next year will see the
introduction of the recently passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,
which may affect the way you deduct your charitable donations. The new
legislation will almost double the standard deduction for individual
taxpayers and eliminate almost all itemized deductions. In other words,
the income tax charitable deduction for a majority of Americans will be
eliminated.
